Education and training

Evidence reviewed

Qualify through one of two experience paths: at least 48 months of supervised air-conditioning and refrigeration work during the previous 72 months; or technician certification for the previous 12 months plus at least 36 months of supervised work during the previous 48 months.

Evidence reviewed

Submit the application first. TDLR verifies eligibility, then PSI emails the applicant instructions for registering and scheduling the examination.

Endorsement or reciprocity

Evidence reviewed

An equivalent out-of-state or municipal HVAC license may allow current qualifications to support Texas licensure; South Carolina and Georgia licensees should consult TDLR's reciprocity agreements.
